Rothchild Mansion

How do we get to the Rothchild museum from Villefranche-sur mer? Can we walk it? Thank-you!

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is on the peninsula of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. You can get there by train or bus from Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Hi Mickeymouse, yes you can walk from VSM. Walk along the harbour front towards the cap. You will pass the beach and towards the end of the road there are some steps that lead up and follow the railway line along a smakll road. You will then come to a junction where directions are provided. The Villa Ephrussi is about 10 minutes walk from this point.

It%26#39;s called Villa Ephressi de Rothschild. There is a local bus that goes near the Villa but it does not run on Sunday.

A taxi from the Villa Krylos (the Greek style villa) cost 10 euro last May for three of us. The fare back to the train station was 15 euro.

Yes, you can walk to it but the Villa is on a high point with views overlooking the harbor at Villefrance to the west and Beaulieu-sur-mer to the east. The driveway up seemed a little steep to me.

You may want to taxi up and walk back down.

IMO the extra charge to tour the upper floor was worth it.

If you want to eat there, check the time that the restaurant there is opened. We stayed too long in the garden and weren%26#39;t able to get anything to eat or drink.

Hi MM I assume you are coming into VSM on a cruise liner which will offload you at the port. As long as you are reasonably fit you should be able to walk to the villa from here, it%26#39;s a lovely scenic walk and will take you no lonegr that 30 minutes.

Just do a personal work. To check any distance in France, here is the website to know. Just type the departure place and the destination (don%26#39;t even need to have the precise address, it can be a train station, so useful for the questions you posted about Nice, available here on self service), you will get itineraries, maps, distances, time (don%26#39;t forget to type piéton/pedestrian if you want to walk) :

Glad you enjoyed yourself. It beats me why so many cruise passengers want to get on a bus and go elsewhere when Villefranche and the surrounding area is so great!
