We%26#39;re taking the early train down to Milan from Gare de Lyon but don%26#39;t really want to stay at the Novotel and would love to hear recommendations of hotels with a bit of character. However, as it%26#39;s a railway station area, we would like to stay somewhere that is safe. Any suggestions?

We were in Paris 2 weeks ago and stayed at the Hotel Terminus Lyon, right opposite the Gare de Lyon, we were pleased with it and were there for 4 nights, all the staff were very helpful and above all it was clean. The price for a double room with buffet breakfast was just under £100.

I can second the recommendation for Hotel Terminus Lyon. We stayed there last Thursday night (130E for a triple) and found it very clean, well run, english speaking desk clerks, and near good restaurants and shops.

We also stayed at the Hotel Terminus Lyon, about 6 weeks ago. It is very convenient to the station and clean and comfortable. Have a great trip.
