Wine tour

have just spent a fantastic few days in the Roussillon region where the weather was just perfect .. over 20 degrees most days while we lunched outdoors in the sun.We stayed in the Park Hotel in Perpignan which was very central and convenient for walking to the city centre etc. However, the highlight of our trip was an unplanned wine tour which we took with the French Tour co. These guys have just set up business and are really eager to impress. They picked us up at our hotel and brought us to some fab vineyards that we would never have found ourselves. The atmosphere was chilled out and relaxed and reminded me of a wine tour I did in CA a few years ago .. not stuffy at all. All the visits were in English or translated for us. We took part in a %26#39;how wine is made%26#39; tour at one of the boutique wineries which was fascinating. We had a BBQ on the vineyard using some old vines for firework, washed down with some lovely wine of course. All in all, we visited 4 vineyards, saw some lovely scenery and as we say in Ireland, had great craic.I%26#39;d really recommend if you are in the area. Slainte!

I%26#39;ve just come back from the Roussillon, where we stayed in Perpignan in the Mercure hotel. Really central and great value too. We did a two day wine tour with an Irish girl living there whose company CATALAN WINE TOURS is one to note. We had the most fantastic time as this girl is a wine expert and has sussed out the wineries off the beaten track. Anyone can hop in a taxi and go to a winery, but this tour company took us places we just loved. We laughed lots and learned lots too. It was so great being with someone as knowledgable as this girl Cathy. We couldn%26#39;t recommend it more highly. We have booked a four day trip next September for the wine harvest and can%26#39;t wait !

We also visited Collioure on a day trip with the local bus from the %26#39;Gare Routier%26#39; the Central bus station in the city centre. A must see for sure, packed on the weekends, but still worth going.
