10-day October itinerary - please comment

Here is the itinerary I have worked out for our early October trip to Paris and Amboise. Please let me know if you have any advice on rearranging things or recommendations for restaurants or other detours.

This is my first trip to France since I was 6 years old, and my husband%26#39;s first - we are celebrating our 15th anniversary. Our priorities are great food (more casual, bistro style rather than Michelin starred), long interesting walks, history and museums. We are used to tons of walking on vacations and at home so we will be ready to cover lots of ground! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Fantastic! What a beautiful schedule. You are going to have a wonderful time and will probably get to everything in your schedule. It also isn%26#39;t a crazy full schedule--but has plenty of wonderful activities in it. You will have time to sit in a cafe or over lunch and people watch too.

I hope you are ready to get really excited now.

Now what happens is you continue to read this forum because you are getting more and more excited about your trip and you keep learning about things you would love to see or do in Paris. The tendency is for your itinerary to get more and more full. Just create a wish list of extra things and which arrondisement they are each in. That way, if you have any extra time on a particular day, you can see what is located near where you are and go do that.

|||

%26quot;Saturday Morning/early afternoon: Marais,

Lunch L’as de falafel%26quot;

You have one problem L%26#39;As is closed on Saturday and so are most of the stores in the Marais(Jewish religious day).

You might want to also go to a later Mass at Notre Dame for the music. Look at the Cathedrals offical web site and it will tell you which mass has which music.

Your planning looks really good. A couple of thoughts -

You should definitly go to the Clos de Luce in Amboise (the da Vinci museum). It is beautiful!

I am so glad to see you have the Musee Carnavalet in our plans. We loved it..the (small) gardens are lovely and the house has great exhibits. Ditto the Musee Marmottan - great exhibit of Monets on the lower floor.

Have a greaT time!

Thanks for all of your advice! ILWP - great idea about the %26quot;back up list%26quot;, I%26#39;ll definitely organize some notes. The research and planning has been so fun - I have been planning since last fall and it is finally getting close!

Discover - thanks for the info on the Marais - can%26#39;t believe I missed that! Maybe I will switch Monday and Saturday itineraries - do you see any problem with Notre Dame/Saint Chappelle/Ile St Louis on a Saturday and Marais/Montmartre on a Monday? I%26#39;m having trouble working out the best way to %26quot;fit in%26quot; Montmartre.

|||

Just remembered that the Carnavalet is closed Mondays so Marais on Monday might not work - back to the drawing board! I probably need to make a Monday itinerary that has no museums, any suggestions for best way to rearrange? I wanted to visit Giverny and Versailles during the week to try to avoid weekend crowds.

Try switching your Saturday plans with Sunday.

On Sunday go to Notre Dame Mass and then walk over to the Marais. Most shops and museums don%26#39;t open til around 10. You%26#39;ll be able to have L%26#39;As for Lunch -which is a can%26#39;t miss for me.

And on Saturday you can explore the 6th and the west bank.

Your itinerary looks great!
