Driving Provence to Savona

Could any one advise me of the best route to drive St Remy Provence to Savona during the busy july/ August period? Also any recommended places to stop on the way? Thanks

Unless you like traffic and have hours to spare, don%26#39;t think it would be nice to dirve along the coast. Stick to the autoroute/autostrada and you%26#39;ll be reasonably OK. See via-michelin.com for details.

As for stops, anywhere small and inland with quick access to the motorway wouldn%26#39;t be too much trouble. La Turbie might be a calming stop - with an interesting but little visited Roman monument and spectacular views of the Riviera.

If you want to stop on the coast, choose somewhere smallish and with fairly direct access to the motorway. Antibes could be good. Or Bordighera, where the the steep and winding but lightly trafficked access from the autostrada leads directly past a large car park next to the old town above the modern resort.

Thank you very much for that tip regarding the stop. We have 3 kids in the car so will appreciate an interesting and %26quot;easy%26quot; spot to stop.

Ah, children! Thought I%26#39;d better post the lunchtime closing-hours of the monument at la Turbie and further details so you could check whether it wouldn%26#39;t bore them silly! http://la-turbie.monuments-nationaux.fr/
