hyeres,toulon,bandol or cassis

we are going to be driving from nice to lyon the 3rd week of august. We want to stop for a night in one of these towns. We love good food and wine and a somewhat lively atmosphere. Suggestions?

also any suggestions for hotels will be welcomed

thanks

Toulon is large and still very navy oriented which doesn%26#39;t make it the most attractive for a quick stop.

HyƩres I love, but in conjunction with a longer visit to Giens or the islands.

So my vote goes to Bandol and Cassis which are 20 km apart; Cassis for the Calanques not to be missed (by boat) and the wines of Bandol...

Bandol wine is lovely but the town of Bandol is rather dull and run down. I stayed a week there in June and wouldn%26#39;t choose to go back, to be honest. There%26#39;s not much to see and do. Previous poster is dead right about Toulon. Cassis or Hyeres would be my choice, both are gorgeous. There is more to do in Hyeres IMO, and it%26#39;s bigger, so you would have more chance of finding accommodation there at this point. Would suggest you see if you can find a hotel in either Cassis or Hyeres and let yourself be guided by what%26#39;s available!

thank you for your input. I have found accommodations in la cadiere d%26#39;azur in between towns
