Pompidou Centre - free access?

When I last visited the Pompidou centre (many years ago), if you weren%26#39;t going to an exhibition, you could go in free and go up the escalators. I can%26#39;t work out from postings on here or from the Centre website if it is still possible to do this. Or do you always have to pay to get in? Any up to date info appreciated. Thanks

Just last December, we went up to Restaurant Georges without paying anything. There is no charge to enter the Pompidou center but they do ask you where you%26#39;re going at the bottom of the escalators. We just said %26quot;Restaurant Georges%26quot; and they waved us through.

Each of the museums and exhibits has it%26#39;s own ticket scanning station so I think the people asking questions at the bottom of the escalators are just there for traffic control.

Thank you metromole, that%26#39;s useful. I%26#39;d really like the children to see the building and go on the escalators when we visit but I don%26#39;t really want to visit the galleries etc - there%26#39;s only so many museums and galleries (a) we can afford and (b) the children will enjoy without getting galleried out!
