Chambord or Fontainebleau

Which chateau is the better one to visit? Chambord or Fontainbleau? We will have a car and are considering stopping at one or the other on our way back to Paris.

Chambord if it is on your way. But then plan a little more time and visit Cheverny or Blois or Azay le Rideau or at least one other chateau in that area.

Chambord and Azay le Rideau, they are not far one from the other. What charm!

I love both Chambord and Fontainebleau.

I recommend you go to Fontainebleau because it is less crowded and is furnished well, has lots of music, horse and carriage stable. The cafe is really good. It also has a new gift show.

Chambord is wonderful also. I loved the horse show at 11:30 am. Chambord is a huge place with tons of tourists. More than Fountainebleau. The 365 fireplaces, double staircase and balconies are so cool! It has a smaller carriage room. It also has a new gift shop. The spectacular at dusk is wonderful and exciting. If you want to eat go to the St. Micheals Hotel resturant. The food was so delicious.

You can not go wrong with either choice.

I agree with Discover. Both are very nice to visit and you won%26#39;t be disappointed with either. Chambord does afford one to visit other Loire Valley chateaux however.

I%26#39;d go with Chateau de Chambord and the possibility of another of the Loire chateaux (D’AZAY LE RIDEAU, BLOIS, CHATEAUDUN, CHATEAUDUN, CHENONCEAU, City of CHARTRES, etc) if you have a car. Fontainebleau is easily accessible from Paris by public transportation. Chambord is not.

If you decide to spend the night out in the Loire, before returning to Paris, Chambord offers a late-evening illumination display--
