Paris in the Summer

I am thinking of visiting Paris in August with my husband and 2 children 13 and 11 just for a couple of days. Is August a good time, and can you recommend any hotels, was looking at the Holiday Inn Garden Paris in Montmartre as there is a deal with eurostar.Any suggestions or recommendations would be most welcome.Thankyou

could be a good deal with your eurostar arrangement. Paris in august is quiet, i mean most of parisian are in holidays. Paris offer the Paris-plages (beaches) sites along the Seine...so no need to recommend another hotel ...

We%26#39;re going next weekend on eurostar, with Cresta. I%26#39;ll post back if the hotel was good. But I%26#39;m almost as excited at seeing the new St Pancras station! August is fine for Paris, if a bit hot.

As was mentioned, some things close during August because locals go on vacaton. However, since you will only be there a couple of days, it won%26#39;t matter to you at all because you won%26#39;t have time to see much. The main attractions will all be open. It is just shops or restaurants which may be closed. One frequent destination is Bertillons for ice cream on Ile St. Louis and they are closed in August. Just down the street is an amazingly delicious gelato place called Amorino. The gelato is fashioned on the cone to look like a beautiful rose with petals. It is really too pretty to eat but you won%26#39;t be able to help taking a lick at which point you will be a goner because it is so delicious you won%26#39;t be able to stop.

Enjoy.

If you want hotel recommendations, use the search feature on top on this forum. We don%26#39;t know what price range you have in mind. If you still need help, let us know what you want to see in Paris and what area of Paris you want to be in and we will try to help. (Have you been to Paris before? Do you want to be within walking distance of the major tourist sites?)

August can be very hot so make sure you get a hotel with A/C....if you need ityou will be very thankful.

I have booked to stay at the Novotel in La Defense in August with my husband and son of 14. It costs $160 / night (without breakfast). There is no extra charge for up to two kids sharing their parents%26#39; room. Good Luck!
