stop over between paris and barcelona?

can anyone suggest a place to stop over night between paris and barcelona? we are touring europe and need a town to vist on the way to barcelona to break up the journey

Hello nottingham060 why not get the overnight train from paris austerlitz it leaves at 20:32 and arrives in barcelona at 08:24 this saves you the cost of a night in a hotel and you will be asleep for most of the time . there are cabins with comfortable beds and a dining car (i take my own food and a bottle of wine).this way you will have a day longer in barcelona

Lyon is roughly equal distance between Paris and Barcelona and really worth visiting; there is a lot to do and to see, roman times remains, beautiful Renaissance district, memories of the silk industry, stroll along the 2 rivers, famous gastronomy, etc.

The whole city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Have a look at these website and browse Lyon forum to make up your mind:
