Things to do for young children in Montpellier

Hi,

I am going to Montpellier in mid-august with my 2 girls (aged 2 and 4) and was wondering if anyone could give me any recommendations for things to do with young children. Preferably inside and outside.

Thanks very much.

Hi, Are you staying in the city-centre and have you transport? B

We are staying at Citadines Apart%26#39;hotel, Antigone which is on 588 Boulevard D Antigone. I think this is quite central. We haven%26#39;t got any transport. I think there is a park near us but thought I better allow for rain and make sure i knew of something inside!

Hi Moira, Yes Antigone is central.

There%26#39;s a lovely playground along Place de la Comedie, it%26#39;s got a musical theme. there are lots of cafe bars along here where you can take out a good coffee and sit with the kids here. There%26#39;s a lake here in front of the university with ducks to feed.

You could take a bus out to Carnon, or Les Palavas to the beach. It takes about 20 min I think. La Grand Motte is also on the bus routes. It%26#39;s got lovely beach backed by restaurants and has lots of childrens amusements and bouncing castles etc

If you get a rainy day(very unlikely), take the blue line tram out to Odysseum to the Aquarium and Planetarium.

have a look at www.enjoy-montpellier.com or www.ot-montpellier.fr

Hope this helps. B

Moira, I forgot, The Peyrou Royal Square is a lovely place to wander with children. There%26#39;s the Triumph Arch and the Water Tower, leading to the 18th-century St-Clément Aqueduct. My children like to run around here chasing birds, while we get a chance to admire the architecture! Good free fun!

Thanks B - that%26#39;s great information!

Sounds like you like Montpellier a lot. We spent a day there last year and decided to come back and see more as it seemed like such an interesting place.

Glad also that you said unlikely about having a rainy day! I guess coming from the UK you always have to plan for them!

thanks again for all the wonderful info!

You%26#39;re welcome. Yes I love it. We spend a lot of time in the area, we have a holiday home in Aigues Mortes, just out the road. Wish I were there now, have to wait until August! Have a great time. B
