Denfert Rochereau

I%26#39;m debating between a taxi and the RER B line from CDG ( early morning arrival) to the Best Western Nouvel Orleans which is a couple of blocks from the Denfert Rochereau Station. I know strolling down the sidewalk with luggage trailing behind will make me look like the ultimate tourist but I can stand it for the 100 Euro roundtrip savings. Has anyone used this station lately and how difficult would exiting be with three peope and a normal amount of luggage. My thought is that since the RER runs to CDG then why not use it. Thanks.

I absolutely agree. Use the RER if you can. And, if it makes you feel any better, the first time I went to Paris, many years ago, my sister and I strolled down the Champs Elyseés with our luggage rolling along behind us. We have laughed many times since that, jet-lagged messes that we were, it must have looked like the Beverly Hillbillies rolled into town...Have a great trip!

Every Parisian drags their luggage through the streets on the way to/from the train stations.

Don%26#39;t worry about looking like %26quot;the ultimate tourist%26quot;. French travelers now wear comfortable clothes and comfortable walking shoes like North Americans when they travel so you probably won%26#39;t be singled out as a tourist.

The Denfert-Rochereau station has elevators to street level. It%26#39;s a simple to navigate, clearly marked station.

We wouldn%26#39;t consider any other mode of transportation from CDG than the RER and the Denfert-Rochereau station is unchallenging to say the least. You could save a couple of blocks of walking by transferring to Métro Line-4 - to the %26quot;Mouton-Duvernet‎%26quot; stop, but the walk from the D-R stop to the hotel isn%26#39;t long and it%26#39;s more pleasant than the Métro Line-4.

IAWHappyGoin, anyone who wants to laugh at me rolling my suitcase down the sidewalk while I save $100 is welcome to do so, I don%26#39;t care.

While I can%26#39;t specifically remember how many stairs Denfert-Rochereau station has, since it is an RER stop, it is almost certainly going to have enhanced handicapped access, which is good news for anyone with lots of luggage, too. The RATP metro often has some terrible stair-climbing that inhibits luggage being carried. I suspect you%26#39;ll be lucky on this one, though it would be helpful if someone with better memory than me about Denfert-Rochereau could comment on the stairs and access in/out with luggage.

Excellent, metromole answered the question I asked while I was still in the process of typing it!

If you stay on the RER and get out at D-R, then it will take about 7-10 minutes walking to the Hotel. From the RER station, cross the street but stay to the left (same side as the shops, not the little park). Turn left after Indiana Cafe onto ave du General Leclerc. You will pass by a few cafes, a McD, Monoprix, post office, some ATMS, flower shop, etc. It%26#39;s a very wide sidewalk on ave du Gen Leclerc, so no problem bumping into people with your bag. The hotel is on the %26#39;left%26#39; side as you go south on ave du Gen Leclerc.

If you want to change to Metro Line 4, I don%26#39;t know which interchange is the least walking (Gare du Nord, Chatelet/les Halles or St Michel). After you get off the subway head for the exit and take the first one you come to (follow all the other smart people), as there is an escalator there). The exit just beyond that one is stairs. When you reach the sidewalk the Hotel is directly across the street.

I forgot to say the Metro exit is %26quot;Mouton Duvernet%26quot;.

It isn%26#39;t worth changing from the RER to the metro *AT* Denfert-Rochereau, b/c you will just be walking underground to get over to the quai, when you might as well just walk above ground and be half-way there already.

If I could change the question slightly...how would it be to get from CDG to Pont L%26#39;Alma RER C station? I%26#39;ve been planning to taxi, but maybe that is an easy trip and connection. It will be late morning on a Monday.

Thanks in advance for advice.
