Is three nights at a castle outside Lyon too much?

Bonjour mes amis, et merci pour votre... advice? (Forgive the 40-year-old French, I%26#39;m brushing up before I go.)

We land in Frankfurt at 9:45 am on Weds in September and have 5 days on our own before hubby%26#39;s conference in Luxembourg the following Monday evening. The plan I have hatched so far is mostly driven by the best flight out of FRA, which is at 2 pm to Lyon (others are too early or too late). So we rent a car, drive 2 hrs. to a castle in Lamure sur Azergues called Pramenoux which looks fabulous, and stay for 3 nights. Then return the car in Lyon Part Dieu station and take the TGV to Paris for two nights. (Unfortunately, this puts us in Paris on Sat and Sun night - NOT GREAT for dinner -but whatever).

My question is: is anyone familiar with this little village? Is there ANYTHING to do or see nearby? We are looking for low-key and relaxing before heading to Paris, but still would like to feel we%26#39;re in France, where we%26#39;ve only been to Paris, and prefer not to be in and out of suitcases for three nights. As long as there%26#39;s some nice scenery to hike in, or a winery to visit, maybe a castle, we%26#39;ll be fine. But please tell me if this is a mistake and we really need to be in the Loire Valley. I think I have a picture of Tuscany in my mind, where we love to stay in the little hamlets and not run into tourists around every corner.

Thank you!

Chateau de Pramenoux is not an hotel, but a guest house with a common guest table on request ...If you want a Hotel Castle, you have

www.chateau-pizay.com in the Beaujolais area, or www.chateaufinesroches.com or

www.chateaubellecroix.com, both in the Burgundy area

You can visit Dijon, Beaune and visit some vineyards.

And about Paris, what would do you mean by Sat and Sunday, NOT GREAT for dinner ?

Philpetrus, thank you so much for your reply. The hotel castles you suggested are beautiful, but not quite what we%26#39;re looking for. We prefer smaller B%26amp;Bs, as long as they are beautifully situated, with views, privacy, etc. There are three excellent reviews of Pramenoux on TA, but of course it%26#39;s so hard to know for sure, so if there is anything else you can tell me about it, please do! The two you mentioned have more facilities, but frankly, when I see conference or wedding facilities, I get the willies. I prefer small and personal, (but not shabby or scary). I would not plan to have dinner at the shared table every night, only the night we arrive for convenience. Are there options for dinner in or near the village? If we could find a nice bistro for the other two nights, we%26#39;d be happy. The village%26#39;s website has a map showing a few nice trails for walking in the rolling hills, which would be nice one day, and we%26#39;d like to drive around the area for wine tasting or medieval castle touring as well.

What I meant about Paris is that half of the restaurants I like seem to be closed on Saturday night, and 95% closed on Sunday. Again, we like the smaller, local bistros (Chez Georges, Chez Giraud and Le Timbre come to mind). We%26#39;ll probably go to Le Timbre on Saturday, which leaves Sunday open. We%26#39;ll be staying at Le Parc near Trocadero in the 16th. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

i%26#39;ll be back tomorrow, to late tonight...

there are some restaurants at Lamure sur Azergues, Saint Nizier d%26#39;Azergues, Vaux en Beaujolais, QuinciƩ en Beaujolais, Beaujeu, VilliƩ Morgon, you are located in the Beaujolais area ...

About Paris :

www.bistrocie.fr : in the 16th Bistro de la Muette

www.le-tournesol.fr

www.bistrotdesvignes.fr

they all are open on saturday and sunday evening

Le Tournesol looks just right, thank you very much. I saw the listing in Pudlowski%26#39;s guide, and I love the fact that it doesn%26#39;t have an English website. Perfect!
