Paris Museum Pass

I have heard that children under 18 can usually get into museums free of charge. I am traveling with my 18 year old daughter. Do you think that most museums require children to show an ID or are we pretty safe with her getting in free of charge since she%26#39;s 18 but looks younger? Also, if I buy a Museum Pass for myself to avoid waiting in long lines but have my 18 year old daughter with me without a pass, would she be able to wait in the shorter line with me?

At most places, there is a ticket window, then your ticket is collected at the entrance. If you have a museum pass, you head on to the entrance without having to stop at the ticket window.

It would be more respectful to pay the proper admission fee - but, that%26#39;s up to you. Without a ticket, your daughter may or may not be asked for ID.

Sorry, I don%26#39;t believe that it is up to you. It is theft, pure and simple.

Paris museums are not that expensive and the revenues generated go to preserving and promoting the arts.

If you are looking for ways to save money,

Consider that the Louvre is open evenings and after 6pm those under 26 are free.

Consider that there are about ten municipal museums in Paris that are free.

Consider ordering a carafe of water at restaurants instead of bottled water or soda.

Consider a sandwich in the park...

But cheating museums? C%26#39;mon...

We just returned from a trip to Paris, and we have two teens, age 15 and 18. We bought the museum pass for all but the 15 yr old, and he was able to enter with us in the %26quot;shorter line%26quot; - he would just show his ID and we would show our pass. It was well worth having the pass, some museums have a separate line for those with a pass, and saves you some time waiting in the longer line. I highly recommend buying the passes for both of you.

I agree with Craigmore; if you want to %26quot;sneak%26quot; her in that%26#39;s up to you, but no, you probably won%26#39;t be asked for ID. My three kids carried copies of their passports this June when visiting with me (daughter 17 the oldest and she was never %26quot;carded%26quot;). But the museums are inexpensive, revenue from them allows everyone to enjoy at a low cost. So it might make you feel better just to pay for her as she is an adult.
