Options if you miss the TGV

I%26#39;m getting ready to book TGV tickets from CDG to St. Pierre des Corps on October 5. Flight arrives at 7:25, TGV leaves at 8:57. A couple of months ago I posted the question of whether this was enough time to make the TGV (assuming that the flight is on time). Most responders seemed to think the chances were good of making that train. However, I am trying to get my backup plans in place, should the flight arrive late. I read in another post that you can use TGV tickets for the preceeding train or for the train departing after the one you were reserved on (in this case the next one is at 1:37) - has anyone had experience with that? Is that true of any type of ticket or just one with certain conditions?

Also, I just heard about the %26quot;TGV air%26quot; service with some airlines - on the AA website it says, %26quot;Passengers arriving from the United States will clear Immigration and Customs and collect all checked baggage and proceed to the SNCF/tgvair Air %26quot;Special Counter%26quot; in the train departure area.%26quot; Does this give you any advantage? The AA rep I spoke to didn%26#39;t have a lot of info.

Thank you for the advice - I am finding this one train trip to be the most difficult aspect of trip planning so far when I start thinking of all of the worst case scenarios!

It wasn%26#39;t with a flight but a delayed train making a connection to a TGV. We were able to get on the next available train in a few hours, we were rail pass holders and those only have so many seats. Not a problem other than sitting in Bordeaux for a few hours.

I won%26#39;t have a railpass, so I need to make sure I understand the conditions of exchange for the TGV tickets. On the SNCF site, the less expensive %26quot;loisirs%26quot; option says that they can be exchanged for a 10-Euro fee the day of departure. Would you only be able to exchange those before the scheduled departure time? Or do I need to purchase the more expensive %26quot;Pro 2nd%26quot; option, which seems to allow you to use the original ticket to get on the preceeding or following train (subject to seat availability) with no official exchange? I am probably overthinking this, I know! It seems that I should purchase the Pro 2nd for the later train (1:37) and if my flight arrives on time at 7:25, make a run for it and try to squeeze on to the 8:57 TGV?
