Hello everyone. We%26#39;ll be spending a full day in the Latin Quarter, and are looking for lunch and dinner spots. We%26#39;re considering Brasserie Lipp, Le Procope, Les Deux Magots, Le Porte-Pot, and Le Coupe Chou, but these all seem to be fairly expensive, particularly for dinner. (Although we can%26#39;t seem to find very specific info for Lipp, Procope, or Porte-Pot regarding price. Any thoughts?) Can anyone recommend cheaper fare in the area? Something under 20 Euros for lunch (ideally around 15), around 25 for dinner? We tried searching the restaurant forums, but weren%26#39;t having much lucking finding inexpensive eats in the area. Thanks so much!

The restaurants you mention are all extremely touristy, and obviously a bit more expensive than many others.
Le Procope (in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, not the Latin Quarter, as are most of the other restaurants you mentioned) has a lovely historical atmosphere, but the food is nothing special. I went there twice, and I always feel a bit ripped off for drinks. When I ordered a glass of white wine as aperitif they brought me one of their most expensive wines: 12 euros for a glass.
Why don%26#39;t you just walk around the area? There are quite a few good and affordable restaurants in the Latin Quarter. We ate at a brasserie where only locals had dinner and in a very cheap but good Italian restaurant (don%26#39;t remember the names unfortunately). Don%26#39;t be afraid of improvisation: it%26#39;s a guarantee for unique discoveries. Almost every restaurant serves good food in Paris (as long as you stay away from the cheaper tourist restaurants around the Place du Tertre and the Eiffel Tower etc.)

We had lunch in Louis Vins on 9, rue de la Montaigne-Sainte-Geneviève, 75005 Paris. Métro: Maubert-Mutualité. It was € 15.00 per person for one main course, a glass of wine and a coffee. Food was delicious! For dinner I would recommend Perraudin,157 rue St-Jacques, 5e, Metro Cluny-la-Sorbonne.

Le Pré Verre (www.lepreverre.com) does a prix fixe lunch menu for €13.50 and 3 course dinner menu for €27.50. Great food, very reasonable prices. It%26#39;s located at 8 rue Thenard in the 5th.

You don%26#39;t have to eat at a %26#39;special%26#39; place for lunch... most any cafe/brasserie is going to have simple dishes you can have for lunch (moules/frites, poulet roti, salad platters, sandwiches, omelettes, etc). Just look at the posted %26#39;carte%26#39;, peer thru the window, and go in. Don%26#39;t forget the %26#39;picnic%26#39; option, buying a baguette sandwich, small pizza or quiche, some fruit, a pastry, and so on, then enjoying on a park bench or the bank of the Seine....

When we went to the Latin Quarter we didn%26#39;t book anywhere, we just strolled around a bit and went down a few side streets, looking at the menus outside. We ended up in this gorgeous Italian place (which I cannot remember the name of for the life of me) where I had a huge plate of pasta with fruits de mer for a really reasonable price. Loads of places also do really good set menus.
Basically, if you%26#39;re willing to look around a bit there are some really cheap eats in Paris.
Enjoy your trip!

A few of my favourite restaurants in Paris offer menus at under 20€. Remember that in France a %26quot;menu%26quot; is a fixed price three course meal with a choice of starter, main course and dessert.
My favourites in the Quartier Latin are L%26#39;Époque on rue du Cardinal-Lemoine, Au Bon Coin on rue de la Collégiale and Le Languedoc on Boulevard de Port-Royal.
They all offer great value traditional Parisian cuisine.
Bon appetit!

I had a nice lunch (a charcuterie plate) at a brasserie/bistro/whatever at the corner of rue des Ecoles and rue de la Montaigne. Sorry I can%26#39;t remember the name or the exact price, but it was cheap.
