Help with Transportation in Paris

3 weeks to go--- WOO HOO!!!

I just have a quick question that hopefully you Paris veterans can answer.

Will be flying from L.A. to CDG and plan to take the RER to Paris. We are arriving on a Saturday so planned to buy the RER ticket to Paris and then buy a carnet of tickets to use over the weekend as we need them ( we are a family of 4 - 2 adults and two teens). Depending upon how much we use the metro, we may then buy the Navigo Decouverte on Monday for the rest of the week (will be bringing our trusty 1%26quot; photos just in case!)

So, here is my question - can we buy the carnet of tickets for the Metro when we buy the RER tickets to Paris at the RER station at CDG? I know that although the Metro tickets work on the RER (if they are in the same zone) I will need a different ticket to get from CDG to Paris but wasn%26#39;t sure if I could buy the carnet of tickets at CDG to use within Paris.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi,

Yes, I%26#39;m guessing that you%26#39;ll be arriving in Terminal 2, when you come down the escalators towards the RER / SNCF station you%26#39;ll see loads of ticket machines. The bright yellow ones are SNCF, the others sell RER and Metro tickets.

All of the machines are multi-lingual, but you can also buy the tickets from the ticket counter - although whenever I come through the queues are pretty long.

Have fun!

If you need to buy tickets at the counter bear to the left counters and line. The counters to the right handle SNCF/ TGV. They will accept your credit card and as the previous poster said they sell carnets for the Metro, the machines take European cards that have the chip. ATMs around Paris have no problem with the American credit card magnetic strips.

RER is to the left of the ticket office.

Thank you both for the info!!
