Questions metro vs. walking

I will only be in Paris for a short while and want to see as much as I can in a short time. I will be in the Bercy Village area and plan on getting a metro card for the day allowing for as many trips as I need. I don%26#39;t mind walking at all, but I do know having visited cities in the past that two points on a map are not always as close as they look, and even more importantly may have barriers of some kind separating them making walking quite futile. Having said that several questions:

1) Would it be easier to get to Notre Dame by getting off line 14 at Chatelet and walkng (I ASSUME that there is a walkway across the Seine) or to transfer to line 4 and get off at Cite?

2) Would it be easier to walk from Notre Dame to the Louvre or get back on the Metro (walking to Chatelet to take line 1 or taking line 4 to Chatelet and transfering)?

3) Is it possible to get off the metro line 6 at Trocadar or Passy and walk across the Sciene (I assume there is a walkway) to the Eifel Tower?

Thank you so much!

If you want to see as much as possible, consider just using the buses, rather than the metro.

We stayed in the 7th near the Tour Eiffel and took buses to/from Bercy Village.

It isn%26#39;t worth transferring to Cite, just get out at Chatelet, cross the river and there you are - 400 meters walk is about 7 minutes.

Why don%26#39;t you walk to the Louvre? On the way from Notre Dame, go to the %26#39;tip%26#39; of Ile de Cite and see both the pleasant Place Dauphine, then the Square du Vert Galant.. Cross Pont Neuf (Paris%26#39; original bridge) and head for the Louvre, about 500 meters from there. If you wanted, you could deviate on the way to enter the Saint-Germain l%26#39;Auxerrois...

You get off at Trocadero, cross the plaza (photo op) and then Pont d%26#39;Iena right in front of the Eiffel...

From the Louvre, walk past the pyramid and take a right through the passage and then across the rue de Rivoli. By the Metro station, look for the stop for the 69 city bus and ride it to the Eiffel Tower, a very scenic route.

I have seen that you can buy a ticket to the Louvre at some of the Metro stations and that saves some waiting in line. If so is there a special entrance and how would I find it?

One other question I am interested in taking one of the 90 minute English tours. Is that a good idea?

You can find the schedule of tours in English on the Louvre website. They%26#39;re not that frequent. In the alternative, you could just use Rick Steves tour and/or pick up the audio guide.
