Nantes in November

My husband has booked a very cheap budget flight to Nantes in mid November, staying for a week.

Can anyone tell me whether it will be only shops open at this time of year or if other tourist attractions might be available?

He is interested in things like War museums/memorials/battlefield sites, also boating or beaches of any kind.

I%26#39;ve discovered the airport is quite close to a river, but how far is it from the coast? We are a bit worried about driving on the other side of the road, so would prefer public transport...how accessible is this?

And could anyone recommend a good source of self catering properties to rent at that time?

many thanks.

Shops will normally be open and tourist attractions are all available at this time. :)

%26quot;MAILLE BREZE Naval Museum%26quot; might interest you. It%26#39;s a first naval museum in a French river that takes you to the discovery of the life aboard a boat 133 metres long, equipped and armed as a ship in service.

Though it%26#39;s not with war theme, don%26#39;t miss the Nantes History Museum inside the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. The castle is only 5-10 minutes on foot away from the train station (North Exit). Moreoevr, a brand new attraction, Machines de l%26#39;Ile, open since the summer of last year is also a must-see if you spend some time in Nantes. The airport is only 20 minutes away from the Nantes town centre by TAN AIR. In Nantes, you can take either the tram way or the bus, which take you practically anywhere you want to visit. There%26#39;s free-service bikes available in the city, look for the %26quot;Bicloo%26quot; orange signs for the stations (79 in total). Considering taking Pass Nantes to get free access to public transport and to a lot of tourist attractions, and discounts elsewhere.

For other more detailed information, I strongly suggest you contact the Nantes tourist office directly (they%26#39;re open 7 days a week). They know every destination in or around Nantes (including beaches beside the atlantic ocean), catering services, hotel info, or some tourist pack that might save you money!!!
