Nine nights in Provence

My wife and I plan to spend nine nights in and around Provence. If we were to select two base locations from which to tour the region, where would you suggest. We want to see as much as possible without retracing our steps too much

Hi WallyG

Please let us know when you intend to visit and where you intend to initiate your exploration. Thanks

We plan to arrive on October 9, 2008 in Marseille at about noon. Will need to be back in Marseille on October 18 for an early morning flight on the 19th. Plan to stay that night at the Ibis aeroport. Origionally thought I would start with a base in Provence from which we could drive around the Gorges du Verdon. Maybe Moustires St Marie, which I guess is not technically in Provence. Right? Then after two or three days move more to the north central part of Provence for touring the balance of the region. The Chateau Talaud in Lorail du Comtat seems to be a centrally located position for ex-ploring Orange, Avingnon, Pont du Gard and Arles and the more central part of Provence. Any comments about this particular place? Any suggestions you might have on location and accommodation would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chateau Talaud is a lovely place. It is not within walking distance to much though. If you plan to have a car, you will most likely love it. It is convenient to exploring all of the places you named, all of which are quite nice.

You can explore the villages of the Luberon from Talaud too, but you might enjoy it more if you split the stay between perhaps Talaud and a similarly lovely place over in the Luberon. I%26#39;m sure Alpillesgal could recommend a good place for the split.
