Confused about Courbevoie - Can anyone please help?

We are travelling to Paris in December for 3 nights and are considering staying at the Citea Lilas d%26#39;Espagne apartments, which are in Courbevoie. I%26#39;m a bit confused about Courbevoie%26#39;s proximity to central Paris and I would be very grateful if someone could help with the following information.

1. Has anyone stayed at the Lilas d%26#39;Espagne apartments and would you recommend them?

2. The apartments are 7 mins from the Grande Arche de la Defense in Courbevoie. Is it easy to get to central Paris from here on the Metro and how much will it cost?

3. Are there any restaurants %26amp; bars in Courbevoie (suitable to take daughters aged 12 -15) or would we have to go back into central Paris to find somewhere to eat in the evening?

4. Any suggestions for other, reasonably priced hotels a bit nearer Paris? We%26#39;d be looking for somewhere that offered triple/family rooms.

Any advice would be very welcome. For 4 of us it will be our first visit to Paris and we want to make the most of it.

Many thanks

Courbevoie is a near western suburb of Paris, out near the La Défense complex. The area will be most conveniently accessible to central Paris via #1 Metro ligne from the LA DÉFENSE-Grande Arch Metro station (10 mins to Étoile/Arc de Triomphe..18 mins. to Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre...22 mins to Hôtel de Ville (Notre Dame). CITEA LILAS d%26#39;ESPAGNE--30 rue Lilas d%26#39;Espagne,Courbevoie 92400--is approx. 1.4 km (.9 mi) from the LA DÉFENSE Metro station on foot.

So long as you stick with the regular METRO train system, this trip will be a Zone 1-2, single-Ticket ride. ***IF*** you use the RER train system %26#39;A%26#39; ligne this trip will be a Zone 1-3 ride and require a different, separate RER train ticket. DO NOT become confused by the two similar by different train systems.

I would check with them to be sure how you can get to the beginning of the #1 line and look at a map to see how far it is. Someone else%26#39;s idea that it can be walked in 7 minutes may not coincide with yours. It will be cold, and you may not want to do that at least twice a day.

On my first trip, we stayed at the Hotel Mercure Defense. That hotel is only a few blocks away. We were taken to the station by the hotel shuttle and had to take a cab back to the hotel. I was with a tour group and only had to do it once. I would look for something within Paris.

The actual walking distance from CITEA LILAS d%26#39;ESPAGNE--30 rue Lilas d%26#39;Espagne,Courbevoie 92400-- to the LA DÉFENSE Metro station on foot is approx. 1.4 km (.9 mi). At average, the walk from apartment to station will take approx, 20-25 mins. 7 minutes must be an 8 mph run.

I just got back from a stay there. (10 nites), and we had a kitchenette so we could eat in some. After a long day touring it worked quite well. It is in a primarily residential area and not a traditional hotel. More of a weekly or monthly apartment rental.(very small rooms)Not alot of restaurants nearby and they are not open consistently. We ate breakfast and evening meals in and splurged at a late lunch. Bus 73 stops right up the street and goes to the Orsay Museum area via the Champs d%26#39;Lysee so you really don%26#39;t need to get to the Grande Arch. It is quite a walk, especially if they have the escalators turned off. You can plan all of your outings via bus or rail at www.ratp.com Or maybe it is www.rapt.com? If you are planning on eating all of your meals out it isn%26#39;t ideal. But if you want a place with a great price that is it. It was safe and quiet. 57 euros cab fare from CDG. Bus or train tickets are about 1 euros per ride per person no matter how far the bus goes. If you use the train (not the RER) you can get on different connecting trains with one ticket as long as you don%26#39;t exit the station. I suggest Rick Steve%26#39;s book on Paris. Lot%26#39;s of great information. NR USA

Many thanks to the kind people who took the time to send me information about Courbevoie. Having listened to all the advice we have decided to look for somewhere a bit more central. As 6 dedicated shopaholics we don%26#39;t really want to waste time commuting when we could be shopping.

Thanks again for all your help
