Looks Ok to me with the exception of day 3 where you are trying to do too much.

I might be tempted to do Gordes and the Luberon on day 3 - its a lovely area and is a nice day%26#39;s tour.

Get up early on Saturday to do Arles market and drive back to Avignon via Les baux, St Remy and Pont du Gard.

Agree with BB. Day 3 is way too overpacked.

Sounds much better.

Theres so much to see and so little time that one gets carried away!

Thank you both.

Hi,

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Avignon for March, and I was wondering if you could get around via bus or car rather than a car? I%26#39;m going with my cousin %26amp; mom %26amp; none of us have any desire to drive.

Did this itinerary work for you?

Thanks!

You can get around by public transport - I always do, and Avignon is a good centre of operations, but you will find there are some places impossible to get to (Roussillon, for example) and some very difficult. You will need to plan very carefully and you may have to limit yourselves to one or two places a day. You might find it useful to do an organised coach trip for the Luberon villages. I also suspect there is no bus service to Les Baux in March, and it%26#39;s an absolute must-see so you might want a coach trip for that and St Remy too. Alternatively you could walk from Maussane if you are energetic, it%26#39;s not that far. But you%26#39;d have to get bus 29 from Arles to Maussane, having got to Arles in the first place!

For buses have a look at infociao.com

By the way the printed train timetable has howling errors in it so if you pick up a copy don%26#39;t rely on it absolutely, esp with regard to ligne 1, the coastal train route from Marseille to Hyeres.

Mer5571, This was advance planning for our late August vacation!

We dont want to drive around either,so we%26#39;ve decided to take private tours with Decouvrte du Ventoux on days 2 %26amp; 3

Shall let you know if it worked.

Will they be taking you into Brantes? If so, be sure to reserve a table in advance at La Poterne as they fill up quickly during high season. Even if it is just for a tea or coffee, it really is a special place.

|||

Was planning on stopping by. Didnt know reservations were needed. Thanks Toutou

|||

In high season, they almost always fill up. It is not a huge place. I think they only have about 10 tables. Have the driver park at the mid point of the hill up and then walk up to the village. There is only one main walk into the village (there is a lower one, but it will take you to the upper one). Walk to the end of the village, past the potter (who is excellent and worthy of a visit inside) and past the church. You will then come to La Poterne on the cliff.

If the number is not on my TIPS, let me know and I will post it here.

Toutou, The number is indeed not in your tips!

Could you post it here please?
