Lights festival

I know it may seem early but we are thinking about going to see the lights festival in december and I know there are usuallly a lot of people so I think we should start planning early.

Can you suggest where we should get a hotel in order to be central and maybe suggest some names.

How is it organized? I don%26#39;t really know what to expect so all help and advice will be welcome!

Thanks!!!

The light festival is 4 days long; as December 8th is on a Monday this year, it will probably be from Friday 5th to Monday 8th. It starts at night, up 6:00pm. There are illuminated buidings and locations all over the city, so you get a map at the tourist info and just walk from one location to an other. Cars are not allowed in the center from 6:00pm to 1:00am. You need 2 evenings to see it all.

The program is not available yet for 2008 edition but you can have a look at the festival website:

Don%26#39;t miss the students experiments, ussually located on the Croix-Rousse hill; it is not as crowded as major places and always very interesting:

Everybody is in the streets, it is very jammy and a lot of fun; as it is usually cold, street vendors sell hot wine.

Regarding hotels, any central hotel will be OK; have a look at hotels recommendations on this foorum and at travellers reviews.

Thanks!

The fotos in the web sites are lovely. Now I%26#39;ll start looking up the hotels and then maybe I%26#39;ll be back for further info!

Don%26#39;t hesitate to come back in due time ! I will be glad to help further.
