rental car dropoff near mont st michel then train to paris

We want to leave from bayeux early, drive to mont st michel, spend the day, then that night drop the car off and take a train to Paris. Is that possible. Or should we drive back to caen and take the train to Paris from there. I thought back tracking would be a waste of money

Drive back to Caen. It%26#39;s a quick trip on the expressway, and the train service from Caen to Paris is much better.
