Can anyone recommend a suitable area / hotel near to SDF Rugby that isn%26#39;t too far away from the city centre attractions but with a bit of night life ?

The area around Gare du Nord may suit you. That%26#39;s one station from Stade de France on the RER (suburban rail). Plenty of cheap hotels, bars, good value eats and hundreds of rugby supporters. My other half and his mates always stay in that area when they go over for games.
Just one (?) word of advice: if you do travel out on RER, make sure you don%26#39;t get an express train - it will not stop at SDF. By the way the stadium is about 5-10 mins walk from the station.

Thanks for that info - I didn%26#39;t think the GDN district looked to nice when I last was there - is it a safe area ?

It%26#39;s perfectly safe, but certainly not your picture postcard Paris. It%26#39;s big selling point is location in relation to Stade de France and the hotels/bars/eateries are good value. I%26#39;ve never felt unsafe there. I particularly like Blvd de Magenta which has quite a few hotels: my favourite is Hotel de L%26#39;Europe. Nothing fancy, just a good 2 star property with courteous reception staff, who all speak English.
