suggested itinery

hi (again)

my wife and i are on a driving trip to normandy. we land in sept into cherbourg and intend to drive to bayeux as an initial base that day. we intend to stay there for 3 or 4 nights to do 2 days with d-day tours (the main reason) see bayeux itself and any close surrounding areas.

from there we wish to drive elsewhere in either normandy or even brittany (im not sure of the geography) can someone suggest an itinerary for another few (5)days (we head back to cherbourg after 8 nights.) also to suggest places to stay. i looked at a chateau called isle marie and it looked beautiful but i dont know its its well situated to see and do more after bayeux. im finding it hard to get accomadation in bayeux itself but ill get somewhere as it does seem like a good place to start.

thanks to anyone that can help

Bayeux is very convenient as a base for the D-Day beaches. You can spend one day in Bayeux, 2 on the D-Day beaches and one day in Caen (Memorial Museum, William%26#39;s abbeys and castle, etc..). Did you try the Chateau de Sully (Just outside of Bayeux, or La Chenevriere in Port-en-Bessin?

The Chateau Isle-Marie is beautiful, but rather isolated.

If you have not been to Mt-St-Michel, you may want to go spend a night there, then go on to St-Malo and Cancale: What about dinner at La Maison de Bricourt? Great 3-star meal.

Then you can come back toward Cherbourg, spend a day around Barfleur/St-Vaast, and another on the other side of Cherbourg, in La Hague.
