Etap or Ibis????

Budget hotels in Troyes,

Etap or Ibis, is one better than the other or are they just about the same. Price wise there is not much difference, but what might swing it is the secure underground parking at the Ibis.

Which one is closer to the old town when walking.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Theyre all part of the same chain, and pretty indistinguishable (and undistinguised). Ithink of them as the sort of place you check into late after a day on the road, rather than having a holiday in.

Check out Logis de France - theprice will be about tyhe same, but you will be staying in an independent, family run establishment.

Thanks for the link Wizard.

I checked it out and only one of them has parking, so that narrows it down!

We used a Logis last year and must admit it was quite quaint so might go for that option again.

They are both really close to each other so it makes no difference. However Ibis hotels are nicer than Etap.

Thanks for that JBart.

With your opinion and the fact that the Ibis has secure underground parking, it looks like it will be the winner. Anyway it%26#39;s only for one night on route to the sunny South.

Hi Bestbaz

We%26#39;ve just booked a Balladins hotel in Troyes at 48 Euros - recommended by friends (never tried this chain before, so are keen to see how it matches the two you mentioned which are usually on our list). We%26#39;re driving down to Frejus on Tuesday, and have booked the Balladins in Macon (also recommended by friends who have sorted out our route for us!!). Troyes will be our overnight stop on the way back, so are looking forward to it.

Last year we stopped in Chambres d%26#39;hotes in Provence and they were fabulous, but since we only want somewhere to sleep this time, this will do. Looks fine, but is slightly out of town.

Have fun.

Just thinking - you may have already been and gone by the time I%26#39;ve done this, so let me know how you got on!!

Just to let folks know we opted for the Ibis in the town centre, and can highly recommend it.

It looked not more than a year old and had secure underground parking, and was close to the old town and a host of eateries.

We would loved to have spent more than one night there, but we were on our way South and this was only an overnight stop.

They are redeveloping/modernising the area close to the hotel and I am sure it will look lovely when complete and this should enhance the appeal of this hotel.

I should also like to say that the staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful.

We hope to visit again next year, maybe this time for two nights.

Thank you so much for getting back to us all and letting us know how it went. I love stopping in Troyes so I will try the Ibis out.
