2 weeks in Corsica

Hello,

me and my 2 friends are visiting Corsica the first 2 weeks of August.

I know that it will be pretty %26quot;crowded%26quot; in that period..

Could you suggest me what we shouldn%26#39;t miss in 2 weeks time and also any special place/beach (maybe with just a few tourist) to see?

We will hire a car, so we do not have problems to move from one place to the other.

I thank you in advace for your disposal.

Regards,

Silvia

Hi Silvia,

Before we give you a considered answer to your question, it would be helpful to know what kind of holiday you want and what kind of things you are interested in.

We also need to know where you will be staying - your car will help you get around for sure, but it takes a long time getting from one end of the island to the other.

Corsica is not a one-dimensional holiday isle. It has a vibrant arts and music scene, incredible mountains, award-winning wine, an astonishing history... and yes, a large number of great beaches. Why did you decide to come here? Tell us and we%26#39;ll help if we can!

Thanks a lot for your questions.

Actually, we have no plans at all at the moment about aour stayings in Corsica. We just know we would like to see some good natural places and spend some days on beautiful beaches. I completely trust suggestions about where to go and what to visit in these 2 weeks.

Hope to hear you soon,

Silvia

In which case you might consider basing yourselves in the Balagne (north west Corsica - Calvi area). There are beaches galore along the stretch between Calvi and Lozari. And, using your car, you%26#39;ll be able to get into the mountains...

For the beaches, I suggest you try Arinella and Bodri as suggested elsewhere in this forum. For your trips into the mountains, I%26#39;d suggest you start with the Forest of Bonifatu (just 10km from Calvi). A little further afield, you%26#39;d also enjoy Restonica (near Corte) and the Fangu valley (near Galeria). I hope you all have a great time. DTR

It depends of course also if you plan a roundtrip on Corsica and staying at different places. Corsica is simply BEAUTIFUL for nature and several twown. (.. and I can assure you that I visited a lot worldwide)

A few exemples

- Calvi is indeed nice

- Porto and the natural reserve of Scandola that you visit by boat trip

- Bonifacio is wonderfull. You have also to make a boattrip to see the white cliffs with the town on top of it. Note that if you take a boattrip to the Lavezzi Islands you come out of the port of Bonifacio alongside the cliffs and go to Lavezzi (isles) also natural reservation where you can go on land and stay at one of the beaches and take the boat back.

- Corte at the inside and the Restonica Valley

- of course Bastia and Ajaccio

Note that the east side (Italian side) Corsica is rather flat with large sandy beaches. Around Aleria half way Porto Vecchio / Bastia there are many inclusive some naturist beaches.

Enjoy Corsica: it is a top destination!

Oh yes I forgot regarding car driving:

- don%26#39;t take a too big size, as a lot of twons and villages are small and a big car can be difficult to park. Plus if you have some small roads as the restonica valley... beautifull be not easy to drive if there is a lot of traffic

- don%26#39;t plan too long trips as the roads are turning in an incredible way. The only right road is between Bonifacio and Bastia!

- now don%26#39;t undesrtand me wrong: the roads are certainly good in Corsica and indications are also good. Only there are a lot of turns!
