How much money to take....

For eating out? We%26#39;ll be going for a weekend next year, 4 days at the most. We don%26#39;t want to spend a lot of money on food, we%26#39;re more interested in little cafes. I think we%26#39;ll do a fancy restaurant one night, to celebrate the wedding. Anyone have a rough estimate for the amount of money we should allocate for two people eating over 4 days?Do you have any suggestions of more fancy restaurants? I don%26#39;t want to spend loads, but I want something nice.

Hi margeaux. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! (Did I read that right?) I think you will get a wide range of responses because the answer to your question varies really greatly depending on personal taste, etc. I%26#39;m going back to Paris in December, and I%26#39;m focusing on places that are supposed to provide good value - around $32 Euro per person for 2-3 courses. If you like wine, that will increase the cost per person per meal.

We are planning to focus on dinner and then pick up to-go food (crepes, etc) during lunch, since we will be on the go alot. What area are you staying in? You may want to pick a place close to your hotel/apt for your nicer dinner. Check out the France board on Chowhound.com. Do a search for the Arrondissement in which you are staying, and you will come up with lots of options for special meals.

I always try to do as Parisians do, eat a large lunch and smaller dinners. Most places will not be over 25 euro for lunch and often includes table wine and or coffee.

Be sure to bring money for snacks, drinks and ice cream/gelato (5-20 euro). Stop at grocery stores for water and soda, much cheaper. I would attempt 75-100 euro a day but try to find the good deals and best food.
