St Laurent du Var

Staying at the Novotel at St Laurent du Var in October. I know there is a large shopping mall nearby but would like to know if there are any Supermarkets near too for buying snacks etc.

Any general advice on this area would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi,

The mall name is Cap 3000, it includes a Supermarket. The Entrance is facing the Novotel ;-) You have also small supermarkets in the city center (Casino, Intermarché) but you will have to walk between 1 and 2 kms.

You will be spoilt for choice being so near to Cap 3000.

It has an amazing selection of shops all under one roof including Galeries Lafayette.

You can get the no. 200 bus into Nice from the shopping centre or walk across a footbridge and catch the No. 10 which goes nearer the centre.

The beach at St. Laurent du Var is very nice and has lots of little cafes and restaurants along it. Yes there are planes going past all the time, but they aren%26#39;t disruptive at all. We often visit Saint Laurent for it%26#39;s furniture shops and home decor places.

It%26#39;s too far to walk into Nice (although my husband has run that far - he%26#39;s a jogger!)

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in Port St Laurent for 6 years in succession. I know exactly where the Novotel is. You%26#39;ve already received advice re. the Cap 3000 shopping mall- this is an excellent resource.

Suffice to add: Eating out: - there are 50 or more restaurants along the prom in this area- from pizza joints to top quality restaurants. Brilliant choice and excellent food.

Beaches: not good, unless you pay to use Cocody Beach, in front of the Holiday Inn Resort. Most are pebble beaches and can be crowded with locals.

Travel links: rail station and bus stop within walking distance- covers whole of Cote D%26#39;azur.

Car hire: just within walking distance (airport).

Getting to the hotel: I%26#39;m almost certain that the Novotel do a shuttle service back and forth to the airport.

Taxis: very expensive into Nice- last resort only unless wealthy!

If you want more info- just fire the questions...

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. Feel sure that I will find something for my picky teen daughter to eat!!

Whilst staying here will obviously travel into Nice via public transport, but would want to travel along the coast ie Juan le pins/antibes, would the buses stop near the hotel?

Really looking forward to our trip, 1st time to South France.

Hi,

The bus station is facing the Novotel ;-)

You can get a map of Saint laurent du var here:

You can also see your hotel at http://maps.live.com

(choose %26quot;aerial view%26quot; to see your hotel, your hotel is close to CAP3000, you can view it from North/South/West and East).
