car rental at Gare Montparnasse

The last time I or one of my travel clients picked up a rental car at Gare Montparnasse, they were all (or a bunch of agencies, anyway) basically in a parking garage on a side street--I think it may have been rue du Commandant Rene Mouchotte. It was a short but wide street (sort of divided side lanes or taxi lanes or something like that) with a bunch of big chain hotels along the sides.

The parking garage with all the rental cars just had very small signs, kind of hard to see unless you know to look for it.

The agency addresses all say that they%26#39;re in %26quot;Hall Pasteur%26quot; but that may just be a fancy way of saying %26quot;in the big parking garage on the side street%26quot;...Has anyone picked up a car there in the last couple of months? Is there still this same set-up or have things changed at all?

Still trying to find out!

Im going there tomorrow to pick up a car from the ALAMO company. The description I got from the lady at the phone was as follows:

Head towards the %26quot;Grand Line 18%26quot;, walk 100 m inside, take the elevator to Hall Pasteur on floor 1.

I think I will rely on just asking people instead (and go there a bit earlier)

Well, please let me know what happens, and if you see EuropCar near Alamo!

Turns out this was very easy after all.

Just know that if all else fails, head to the informaiton center inside the normal Gare Montparnasse, when I did they both seemed to know English and being used to direct people there.

The Hall Pasteur is one floor above the train quais and you can best reach them if you step out on these, I went on the quey 7 for instance, all along marked that the stairs to Hall Pasteur is ahead, for around 100-200 meters. Stepped up to Hall Pasteur which is another waiting hall (with alternative entrances and exits, bars and shops). On the North side you will see the various car rentals, I found mine there (Alamo) and I could also se EuropeCar there as well, which is the one closest to the northern exit.

Good luck on your pickup...

Is there an extra fee for picking up the car at the station. And if so, how much, and is it included in the price of the car quoted by the rental agency?

Yes

%26lt;%26lt;And if so, how much,%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

You%26#39;ll need to check with the rental company as locatiions differ. Except about 20€ additional for train station and airport pickup.

Not always, ask a lot of questions to avoid unpleasant surprises. Another often overlook fee when quoting rental prices is the road tax fee.
